Authorities in Orange County, Florida, have announced the arrest of a suspect in the tragic death of 13-year-old Rose Dieujuste. The arrest comes just one week after the young girl was found unresponsive along South Rio Grande Avenue with apparent signs of trauma.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Jerry Dorisme, 28, was taken into custody on Thursday night in connection with Dieujuste’s death. The arrest was the result of diligent work by detectives, crime scene investigators, and tips from community members who came forward after viewing surveillance footage released by authorities.

Dieujuste was rushed to the hospital on July 4 but sadly succumbed to her injuries. Investigators released video footage showing an unidentified man leaving a parking lot, who has since been identified as Dorisme. He now faces charges of first-degree murder in relation to the case.

Despite the arrest, authorities have not provided additional details about the ongoing investigation. A news conference is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. where the sheriff’s office is expected to provide more information on the case.
