PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Pine Bluff authorities have taken a suspect into custody following a tragic shooting incident that took place in the early hours of July 12.

Upon receiving reports of gunshots in the vicinity of 23rd Ave. and Hazel St., Pine Bluff police swiftly responded to the scene. Shortly thereafter, additional reports indicated that a person had been shot at the intersection of 23rd Ave. and Spruce St.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive male with an apparent gunshot wound. Tragically, the victim was identified as 30-year-old Jaelin Scott, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An eyewitness to the incident revealed that Scott had been engaged in a heated argument with another individual identified as Devantre Daniels. Following the shooting, Daniels reportedly fled the scene in his vehicle.

Following a thorough investigation, law enforcement officials were able to track down Daniels and locate his vehicle at a nearby residence. Without incident, Daniels was taken into custody and subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Scott’s death.
