Authorities in Lufkin, Texas have identified the deceased man found last week in the 100 block of Collins Street as David Meinerding, a 67-year-old resident of the area. The discovery was made by Lufkin Police officers who responded to the scene around 5:15 a.m. on July 2.

Upon arrival, officers encountered aggressive dogs near Meinerding’s body, which led to one officer being bitten. In order to ensure the safety of the officers, two of the dogs had to be dispatched.
