Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A teenager from Fond du Lac has been formally charged with the shooting death of a man from Michigan on Wisconsin Street in Oshkosh on July 2.

18-year-old Daniel Wilson is facing a possible life sentence after being charged with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly killing a 19-year-old man from Michigan who approached him to buy drugs.

Wilson appeared in Winnebago County Circuit Court before Judge Eric Heywood, and further legal proceedings are scheduled for July 15, with a preliminary hearing set for July 25.

The prosecuting attorney in the case is Amanda Nash, while Wilson is being represented by Emma Blankschein and Morgan Rae. The Oshkosh Northwestern reached out to Wilson’s legal team for comment but did not receive a response before publication.

According to the criminal complaint, two witnesses told the police that they were with Wilson, known as “Baby D,” when a man they did not know approached them to sell drugs. Wilson and the witnesses declined the offer, and the victim reportedly told them to move along.

One witness stated that they believed Wilson and the victim exchanged words, while the other witness claimed to have seen Wilson pull out a black handgun and shoot the victim. Both witnesses ran into a nearby house, while Wilson fled in a four-door sedan.

A concerned mother of one of the witnesses called the police, who found the victim lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim had five gunshot wounds, including three to the chest, one to the neck, and one to the hand.

Wilson was apprehended on July 3 in Fond du Lac after confessing to another witness that he had shot someone in the stomach. In his statement to the witness, Wilson claimed that he believed the victim had a gun in his waistband, although he never actually saw one.

Wilson’s bond has been set at $1 million as he awaits further legal proceedings.
