Authorities in Blaine, Minnesota, have reported that a woman tragically lost her life on Thursday evening after a collision with a vehicle while crossing an intersection.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol crash report, the incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. at the junction of 85th Avenue and Highway 47 in Blaine. The woman was in the process of crossing the intersection when a 31-year-old driver travelling south on the highway collided with her.

The driver, who had the right of way with a green light, entered the intersection and unfortunately struck the woman as she traversed the street. First responders quickly arrived at the scene and began redirecting traffic to ensure safety.

Tragically, the woman, identified as a 47-year-old resident of Blaine, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The crash report has indicated that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident. Fortunately, the 31-year-old driver emerged from the crash unscathed.

This unfortunate incident adds to the grim statistics of traffic-related fatalities in Minnesota, with at least 216 individuals losing their lives in such incidents this year, as reported by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
