Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is currently looking into an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that took place during a traffic stop that escalated into a car chase in Atlanta. The incident ultimately led to the apprehension of an 18-year-old individual.

According to a press release from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the GBI has been called in to investigate the shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. The individual involved has been identified as Travon Yarbrough, a resident of Atlanta, aged 18. Yarbrough sustained a gunshot wound and is reported to be in stable condition following the incident. Thankfully, no deputies were harmed during the confrontation.
Initial reports suggest that a deputy from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office FAST Unit spotted a vehicle committing a traffic violation on Harwell Road NW. Upon attempting to pull the vehicle over, Yarbrough, who was driving, immediately sped away. The chase came to an abrupt end when the car crashed while turning onto Delmar Lane NW. Yarbrough then fled the scene on foot, prompting deputies to give chase. It was during this pursuit that Yarbrough produced a handgun from his clothing, leading a deputy to discharge their weapon and strike him. Despite being injured, Yarbrough managed to elude capture temporarily before being found by deputies in the backyard of a nearby residence. A firearm was recovered in close proximity to the shooting location, and Yarbrough was taken into custody following the incident. Medical assistance was provided to Yarbrough before he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by Yarbrough had been reported stolen.
The GBI will be conducting a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter. Upon completion, all findings will be forwarded to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for further examination and review.
