Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from Missouri, Timothy Haslett Jr., is facing additional charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jaynie Crosdale, a 36-year-old woman from Excelsior Springs. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced the new indictment on Tuesday, revealing that Crosdale’s body was discovered inside a blue barrel in the Missouri River.
Haslett, who was already facing multiple charges including rape, kidnapping, and endangering the welfare of a child, has now been implicated in Crosdale’s murder. The case first came to light in October 2022 when a woman managed to escape from Haslett’s home and sought help from a nearby residence. She was found wearing a trash bag with a metal collar and duct tape around her neck.

According to reports, the woman had been held captive at Haslett’s residence since September. She recounted her harrowing experience to the police, stating that she had been sexually assaulted by Haslett after he offered her a ride back to his house for $350. Upon arriving at the residence, she was drugged and restrained in a basement room that was described as a “dungeon” by authorities.
The woman detailed the horrific conditions she endured while in captivity, including physical, psychological, and sexual violence. She was allegedly tortured repeatedly and only fed once a day. During her confinement, she learned that two other women had been held at the same location and that Haslett had claimed to have killed them.
Fortunately, the woman managed to escape when Haslett left the house with his son, allowing her to slip out of her restraints and seek help. Haslett was subsequently apprehended by the authorities, and a search of his property yielded incriminating evidence, including a gas mask, large blue barrels, and surveillance equipment.
Prosecutors revealed that they recovered over 100,000 media files from Haslett’s possession, one of which depicted Jaynie Crosdale in his basement. It is alleged that Crosdale was killed by Haslett between June and October of 2022. The investigation into her death was prompted by a family member of one of the victims who filed a missing person report in January 2023.

Authorities located Crosdale’s remains in June 2023, after receiving a tip-off from kayakers who spotted a blue barrel similar to those found at Haslett’s property. The prosecutor noted that Crosdale’s injuries were consistent with a gunshot wound. Despite the survivor’s claims that Haslett had bragged about killing two other women, prosecutors are only able to charge him with one murder based on the available evidence.
Haslett’s legal representative declined to comment on the case, and he remains incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center on a $5 million bond.
