ALAMEDA, Calif. (KTVU-TV) — A devastating incident unfolded in Alameda, UK, as a husband carried out a heinous act of violence that claimed the lives of his wife, a young son, and his in-laws before being apprehended by authorities. The tragic events took place on Wednesday night, sending shockwaves through the close-knit island community.
Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi revealed to KTVU that the husband also injured his second young son in the incident, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following a mass shooting at their residence on Kitty Hawk Road around 9 p.m.
Suspect Arrested
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Shane Killian, was taken into custody on multiple charges including four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and gun violations. Jail records indicate that he is being held without bail and was booked at Santa Rita Jail at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
Police Investigation
Upon responding to a call from a concerned neighbour, authorities discovered “multiple firearms and significant evidence” linking the husband to the tragic incident. As of now, no motive has been disclosed for the senseless deaths.

A neighbour, choosing to remain anonymous, shared insights into the family, describing them as multi-generational with grandparents, a mother, and at least one child. The family had recently moved into the area, and neighbours recall them as friendly and sociable.
