Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from South Yarmouth, identified as 27-year-old Ryan Evans, was apprehended by the Yarmouth Police Department on Wednesday following an alleged attempted sexual assault on a 5-year-old child at a local soccer game on Tuesday evening. The incident, which took place at Peter Homer Park, prompted a swift response from law enforcement officers.

The harrowing ordeal unfolded when Evans reportedly lured the young child behind the park’s restroom facilities, where the attempted assault occurred. Fortunately, the child’s cries for help startled the perpetrator, causing him to flee the scene on an electric bicycle. Prompt action by the police led to a search operation to locate Evans, while another officer attended to the traumatized child and their family. The Yarmouth Fire Department also arrived to provide medical assistance and assess any potential injuries sustained by the child.
In a bid to ensure the safety and security of the community, Yarmouth police mobilized plain-clothes officers, bicycle patrol units, and additional resources to track down the suspect. This concerted effort culminated in Evans’ arrest around 7 p.m. on Wednesday after he was intercepted in a vehicle by law enforcement officers.
Notably, this is not the first brush with the law for Evans, as Yarmouth police revealed that he faced charges in 2021 for offenses including unarmed burglary and assault, assault with intent to rape a child, assault and battery, destruction of property, and larceny. Evans is slated to appear for arraignment at Barnstable District Court on Thursday to answer for the latest allegations leveled against him.
