Evans faces serious charges including assault with intent to rape a child, kidnapping of a child, and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, as detailed in a press release issued by Yarmouth police.

The distressing incident unfolded at Peter Homer Park just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, when a report was received by authorities regarding the attempted assault on the young child during a soccer game being played on adjacent fields. According to police accounts, Evans enticed the child to a secluded area behind the park’s restrooms.

Evans was eventually apprehended after his vehicle was intercepted around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. He is set to appear for arraignment at Barnstable District Court on Thursday to face the charges brought against him.
