OGDEN CANYON, Utah (WKRC) — A devastating incident occurred in Ogden Canyon, Utah, resulting in the tragic deaths of a man and his teenage daughter. The unfortunate event took place when a bulldozer fell from a tow truck, crushing the pickup truck they were travelling in.

The Utah Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at approximately 12:49 p.m. on Saturday. A tow truck was transporting a mini bulldozer along a state road in Ogden Canyon when, during a curve, the bulldozer became detached and landed on top of a GMC pickup truck that was towing a speedboat.
Tragically, the man and a juvenile passenger in the pickup truck lost their lives, while two other adult passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The victims have been identified as Richard David Hendrickson, 57, the President and CEO of Lifetime Products, and his daughter Sally, 16. The company released a statement confirming the tragic loss and detailing that Richard’s wife and two other children were also involved in the incident but fortunately survived with non-life-threatening injuries. Their fourth child was reportedly not present at the time of the accident.
Colleagues and members of the community expressed their shock and sorrow at the news of Richard and Sally’s passing. Richard was not only a respected leader within the company but also held a significant role within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Stake President in the Ogden Utah Pleasant Valley Stake. He was known for his dedication to serving others and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

Richard’s compassionate nature and ability to connect with people from all walks of life were highlighted by those who knew him well. His impact reached far beyond his professional responsibilities, and his loss has left a void in the hearts of many.
In response to this tragic incident, a petition has been circulating among residents, urging officials to reconsider the types of vehicles permitted on the challenging roadway through Ogden Canyon. The community is coming together to advocate for safer regulations to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
