The Criminal Investigations Division of the Reading Police Department is currently conducting an active investigation into a tragic incident that took place on the evening of July 10th, 2024, at City Park.

Authorities were alerted to the scene at the 1100 block of Washington Street at around 9:30 pm following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old male victim, identified as Rafael Tinoco-Villagomez, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Tinoco-Villagomez was swiftly transported to Reading Hospital, where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
It has been ascertained during the course of the investigation that a gathering was in progress at City Park when the tragic shooting occurred, resulting in Tinoco-Villagomez being fatally wounded.
At present, the police have not been able to ascertain any information regarding a suspect in connection with this tragic event.
