A Viral TikTok Video Shows Man Confronting Teens Fishing by Lake in East Knoxville

A video that has gained traction on TikTok captures a tense encounter between a man and two teenage boys who were fishing by a lake near his home in East Knoxville, Tennessee. The man, identified as 62-year-old Matthew Webster, is seen breaking one of the boys’ fishing rods and demanding that they leave the property.

The videos, posted on the TikTok account @FishnShi, show Webster approaching the boys in a subdivision in East Knoxville. In one video, he aggressively grabs a 15-year-old boy’s fishing rod and attempts to break it in half, while the other boy records the incident.

Webster accuses the teens of trespassing on private property and threatens to throw their phones and fishing rods into the lake. He also warns them that he will press charges against them. Despite the boys’ refusal to provide their names, Webster persists in demanding their information.

As tensions escalate, one of the boys notices that Webster’s breath smells of alcohol, to which Webster admits to having had a drink. The situation becomes more intense as Webster looms over one of the boys in an intimidating manner.

According to reports from DailyMail.com, Webster is a former regional president for the Dover Corporation, an international industrial manufacturer. He currently chairs a Catholic volunteer group called the Haiti Outreach Program at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Knoxville, which raises funds to support children in Haiti with essentials like food, clean water, education, and healthcare.

The videos, titled ‘Drunk Karen Breaks Kids $200 Rod,’ have garnered millions of views online, with many viewers expressing shock at Webster’s behaviour towards the teenagers. Some commenters have criticised his actions, questioning why he would target young boys who were simply fishing.

Amidst the backlash, a fishing tackle business based in Alabama has offered to replace the boys’ broken fishing rod as a gesture of goodwill. Meanwhile, local authorities have confirmed that an active investigation into the incident is ongoing.
