The Montgomery County Coroner, Dr. Kent Harshbarger, has identified the victim of a fatal crash as 64-year-old Mark E. Pike Jr. The incident occurred on February 2nd around 8:15 p.m. on West Social Road between Yankee Trace Drive and Yankee Street. The crash involved a 2017 Ford Fusion and a 2005 Ford F-250.
Mark E. Pike Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. According to Officer Keith Wallace of the Centerville Police Department, the initial investigation revealed that a Ford pickup truck, driven by another individual named Elkins, was travelling eastbound on West Social Row Road. The truck crossed over the raised median separating the east and westbound lanes, entered the westbound lanes, and crashed head-on into Pike’s sedan.
Elkins, the driver of the pickup truck, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Kettering Health Washington Twp. for treatment. The crash report indicated that Elkins had a blood-alcohol content of .104, which exceeds Ohio’s legal driving limit of .08.
