ALGONA, Iowa (KEYC) – In a landmark decision, a jury in Algona, Iowa has delivered a verdict of guilty for the man accused of the heinous crime of killing Algona police officer Kevin Cram. The accused, identified as Ricke, has been found guilty of First Degree Murder in a case that has shocked the community.

The tragic incident occurred last September when Officer Cram was attempting to serve Ricke with an arrest warrant. According to court documents, Ricke fatally shot Officer Cram during the confrontation, leading to a devastating loss for the Algona Police Department and the entire community.

Kevin Cram, a dedicated 10-year veteran of the force, had been serving with the Algona Police Department since 2015. His untimely death has left a void in the department and has been mourned by all who knew him.

Following the tragic incident, Ricke fled the area and was apprehended in Minnesota near Sleepy Eye. The subsequent trial, which commenced on Tuesday, shed light on the events leading to Officer Cram’s death.

During the trial, prosecutors presented compelling evidence, including dash and body camera footage capturing the fatal shooting. In a chilling revelation, Ricke’s mother, who was present at the scene, testified that she witnessed her son pull the trigger.
