The Charleston Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a downtown Charleston “peeping tom” incident, with additional charges filed in connection to a West Ashley incident. Juan Angel Borrero-Bristol, a 43-year-old resident of Charleston, has been charged with two counts of voyeurism, first-degree burglary, and two counts of first-degree assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct.

The charges against Borrero-Bristol stem from an incident on July 6, where he was spotted on the porch of a Radcliffe Street residence around 2:40 a.m., peering through a window at two individuals.

Following the initial incident, detectives were alerted to a burglary and sexual assault in West Ashley, with a suspect matching Borrero-Bristol’s description. The incident took place just after 4 a.m. on Ashley Crossing Drive, where an unknown man entered an apartment and assaulted two victims.
Further investigations linked Borrero-Bristol to an attempted burglary on Saint Philip Street in 2023, resulting in additional charges being filed against him.
Charleston Police Chief Chito Walker expressed gratitude to the community, media, and law enforcement officers for their collaborative efforts in resolving these cases.
Borrero-Bristol is currently detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
