Joseph Brandon Gerdvil : San Juan Capistrano man decapitates parents and dog before being shot by deputies

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (KABC) — New chilling revelations have emerged surrounding the tragic deaths of an elderly couple and their beloved pet dog in San Juan Capistrano.

Authorities have disclosed that the victims, identified as 79-year-old Antoinette Gerdvil and 77-year-old Ronald Water Gerdvil, along with their dog, were brutally mutilated and decapitated by their own son, 41-year-old Joseph Brandon Gerdvil.

Following the gruesome act, the blood-soaked suspect reportedly attacked a maintenance worker in the neighbourhood before fleeing the scene on a golf cart.

Law enforcement officers apprehended him near a bike trail, leading to a confrontation that culminated in the suspect being shot. He is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department described the scene at the couple’s home as “horrific,” with the bodies of Ronald and Antoinette Gerdvil, as well as their decapitated pet dog, discovered by deputies.

Once Joseph Gerdvil is medically cleared, he will be transferred to the Orange County Sheriff’s jail to face charges of two counts of homicide, with the possibility of additional charges being added.

The motive behind the killings and the circumstances leading up to the tragic event are still being investigated by authorities.
