John Higginbotham : “Neighbor shot dead in Long Beach, suspect arrested”

Accident – Death – Obituary News : LONG BEACH – A 64-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly fatally shooting his neighbour in Long Beach.

Authorities received reports of gunshots in the 700 block of East First Street, near Alamitos Avenue, at approximately 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, prompting a response from the Long Beach Police Department. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite administering life-saving measures, the Long Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Following an extensive investigation, law enforcement determined that the suspect and victim were neighbours. However, the motive behind the tragic shooting remains undisclosed at this time.

The suspect has been identified as John Higginbotham, a resident of Long Beach. He was taken into custody and booked at the Long Beach city jail on suspicion of murder. Bail has been set at $2 million, according to police reports.

The identity of the victim has been withheld by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner pending notification of next of kin.
