The Madison County Coroner has officially identified the man discovered deceased following a fire at a residence in Madison County on June 29 as 59-year-old Jerry Thigpen from Tennessee.

Authorities from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding shots being fired at 309 Jeremiah Drive on that fateful day. Upon their arrival, they encountered a woman inside a vehicle on the property with a gunshot wound.

Tragically, the house was engulfed in flames, preventing deputies from entering the premises. They promptly contacted local fire departments for assistance. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, allowing them to locate the body of Thigpen within the charred remains of the home.

At present, the cause of Thigpen’s death remains undetermined, pending further investigation by the coroner.
