Man Arrested After Leading Police on High-Speed Chase in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A man was taken into custody by authorities after a dramatic high-speed chase that unfolded on the busy Interstate 285 in Atlanta.

The incident began on July 5 when Cobb County Police sought assistance from the Atlanta Police Department in apprehending a wanted individual who was evading law enforcement on the highway.

During the pursuit led by Cobb County Police, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jarrett Sharp, collided with a police vehicle before attempting to flee on foot into a wooded area adjacent to the highway.

However, law enforcement officers swiftly executed a PIT maneuver to bring the suspect’s vehicle to a stop, preventing his escape.

In a dramatic turn of events captured on bodycam footage from the Atlanta Police Department, titled “He’s a Runner, but Not a Track Star”, Sharp can be heard shouting as officers apprehend and use a Taser on him.

Following the arrest, Sharp was transported to a detention facility.

In addition to facing existing warrants and charges issued by Cobb County Police, Sharp now also faces a series of charges laid by the Atlanta Police Department, including:

• Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement
• Felony Fleeing and Eluding
• Obstruction
• Multiple Traffic Violations
