ATLANTA – A man who was wanted by authorities is now in police custody after a dramatic high-speed chase that spanned across Cobb County and Atlanta.
According to officials from the Atlanta Police Department, the incident unfolded in the early hours of July 5 when Cobb County police alerted them about a pursuit on Interstate 285.
Law enforcement officers revealed that the 28-year-old suspect, later identified as Jarrett Sharp, intentionally collided with a police vehicle in an attempt to evade capture.
Footage from a dashcam mounted on an Atlanta police patrol car captured the suspect’s vehicle recklessly navigating through traffic at high speeds along the busy interstate.
After executing a Precision Immobilisation Technique (PIT) maneuver, officers successfully brought the suspect’s vehicle to a halt. However, Sharp then fled into the nearby woodland area bordering the highway.
Despite his attempt to escape, law enforcement swiftly apprehended the suspect and placed him under arrest.
In addition to the existing warrants against him in Cobb County, Sharp now faces charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement, felony fleeing and eluding, obstruction of justice, and multiple traffic violations.
