In a devastating incident on Wednesday evening in southern Palm Beach County near Boynton Beach, two individuals lost their lives and another suffered critical injuries in a horrific crash, as reported by deputies.

The tragic collision occurred just before 7:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the 7882 block of South Military Trail, slightly north of the intersection with Miner Road.

According to an official report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a 54-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a 2020 Lexus RX 350, travelling at a significant speed in a northbound direction on South Military Trail.

Approaching the intersection with Miner Road, the traffic signal transitioned to yellow, prompting the driver to accelerate in an attempt to pass through the intersection before it turned red.

Continuing on their path northbound, the Lexus entered a sweeping left-hand curve at a high velocity, resulting in a violent collision with the rear of a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta.

The force of the impact caused the Lexus to overturn, eventually coming to rest on the grass and a dirt swale on the east side of South Military Trail.

Conversely, the Volkswagen came to a halt on the roadside, facing northeast.

Tragically, two passengers in the Volkswagen were pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. One victim was identified as Grechy Y. Almaguer-Perez, a 43-year-old woman from West Palm Beach. The second victim was a 10-year-old boy from the same area.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 46-year-old man from West Palm Beach, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Delray Beach Medical Center. Authorities expressed little hope for his survival.

A third passenger in the Volkswagen, a 2-year-old boy from West Palm Beach, suffered a broken right tibia in the collision.

Following the crash, the driver of the Lexus was taken to Delray Beach Medical Center with minor injuries. The official crash report indicated that she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident, with pending charges.
