A recent incident involving a Sarnia man, identified as 37-year-old Christopher Pevec, has resulted in a three-month jail sentence for the individual. The sentence stems from a confrontation with police on Exmouth Street, where Pevec was involved in a high-risk incident that led to his arrest.
Christopher Pevec, a carpenter by profession, found himself in trouble with the law following two separate incidents. The first incident occurred on Feb. 19, where Pevec was hospitalized due to stab wounds. Shortly after his release, Pevec was involved in a standoff with the police emergency response team at his residence. The standoff prompted a closure of a section of Exmouth Street for three hours, causing disruption in the area.

During the standoff, Pevec was seen pointing what appeared to be a firearm at two teenagers, leading to his subsequent arrest by the authorities. It was later discovered that the firearm in question was a Crosman revolver-style BB gun, which was seized by the police from Pevec’s residence.
In a separate incident, Pevec was found to be high on drugs when he spat at police officers. The judge presiding over the case emphasized the need for Pevec to address his drug problem, as it was causing harm to both his family and the community at large.
Pevec’s lawyer, Terry Brandon, highlighted the context of the vicious attack Pevec had experienced prior to the standoff as a contributing factor to his actions. However, the judge expressed concern over Pevec’s response to both incidents, stating that they posed a significant public safety risk.
Despite the joint recommendation of a 90-day jail sentence from both defense and prosecution, the judge reluctantly agreed to impose the sentence. Pevec, in his statement, expressed regret for his actions and acknowledged the need for rehabilitation to address his drug-related issues.
