Accident – Death – Obituary News : East Bridgewater Teen Arrested in Connection with July 4 Shooting Incident

The East Bridgewater Police Department has announced the arrest and charging of a 17-year-old juvenile from East Bridgewater in relation to a shooting incident that took place on the evening of July 4. Chief Michael Jenkins provided details of the incident, which occurred on Robins Street, within the Pompohono Pines condominium complex.

According to reports, a 911 call was received by the East Bridgewater Police just before 9:00 p.m. reporting a shooting on Robins Street. The victim, also a 17-year-old male, was riding a motorized scooter with another passenger when they were shot by the driver of a passing vehicle.

Following the incident, the passenger of the scooter immediately contacted 911 for assistance. A compassionate resident on Robins Street brought the victim and the passenger into their home to await the arrival of first responders.

Upon reaching the scene, officers found the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach, inside the good Samaritan’s home. Police and paramedics from the East Bridgewater Fire Department provided immediate medical attention to the victim before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

During the course of the investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile was identified as the alleged perpetrator of the shooting. It was revealed that the suspect and victim were acquainted with each other. The investigation indicated that the suspect drove up alongside the scooter in a minivan and shot the victim in the stomach.

On Wednesday morning, law enforcement authorities, including the East Bridgewater Police Department, WEB Major Crimes Taskforce, and SEMLEC Swat team, executed an arrest warrant at the suspect’s residence. The juvenile was taken into custody without any resistance.

The suspect has been charged with several serious offences, including Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building, Possession of a Loaded Firearm without License, Possession of a Firearm without License, and Possession of Ammunition without License.

The juvenile appeared in the Brockton District Court for arraignment on Wednesday. The East Bridgewater Police Department continues to investigate the incident to ensure justice is served.
