Brandon Cain : Palm Bay man fatally shoots father on video – WFTV

PALM BAY, Fla. — A tragic incident unfolded in Palm Bay as a 23-year-old man, Brandon Cain, was taken into custody on Tuesday for allegedly shooting and killing his own father, 52-year-old Daniel Cain.

The Palm Bay Police Department received a distressing 911 call in the early hours of July 3 from a residence on Danbury St. The caller, later identified as Brandon Cain, admitted to the dispatcher that he had shot his father.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found Daniel Cain lifeless on the sidewalk outside the home. Brandon was immediately detained and transported to Palm Bay Hospital for chest pain.

During a preliminary interview at the hospital, Brandon confessed to shooting his father but claimed it was an act of self-defense. However, surveillance footage obtained by the police tells a different story.

The video captured Brandon exiting the house with a concealed weapon and approaching his father, who was seated outside. An altercation ensued, leading to Brandon firing multiple rounds at close range, resulting in the fatal shooting of Daniel Cain.

Despite Brandon’s claims of self-defense, authorities found no evidence to support his narrative. In a subsequent interview at the police station, Brandon allegedly failed to recall the events captured on video.

Brandon Cain was formally charged with first-degree premeditated murder, discharging a firearm in public, and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle. He is currently incarcerated at the Brevard County jail without bond.
