Accident – Death – Obituary News : The arrest of a fourth suspect in connection with the tragic murders of two Australian brothers and their American friend during a surf trip in Baja California has brought some closure to the case. Mexican officials announced that Ángel Jesús, 31, was apprehended by officers on Monday in Santo Tomás, south of Ensenada.

Ángel Jesús is now facing charges of homicide along with two others for the deaths of San Diego resident Callum Robinson, 33, his brother Jake Robinson, 30, and their friend Carter Rhoad, 30. The three friends, who had been reported missing during a surfing expedition, were discovered lifeless in a remote area of Ensenada on May 3.

According to Baja California prosecutors, the motive behind the killings appears to be theft, as the perpetrators allegedly wanted to steal the victims’ truck tires. After a confrontation with the tourists, the thieves resorted to violence, resulting in the tragic deaths of the three men. The bodies were then disposed of in a well near the coast, along with a fourth cadaver that had been there for a longer period.

Chief State Prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez described the harrowing sequence of events that led to the demise of the Robinson brothers and Rhoad. It is believed that the killers targeted the foreigners’ pickup truck and tents with the intention of stealing their tires. When the victims confronted them, a violent altercation ensued, culminating in the fatal shooting of the tourists.

The perpetrators then allegedly transported the bodies to a secluded location and dumped them in a well, concealing the crime with boards. The remote nature of the site made it challenging for investigators to locate the victims, requiring significant effort to recover the bodies.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers expressed condolences to the Robinson family, acknowledging the profound impact of the senseless act of violence. The incident has elicited widespread sympathy and support for the loved ones of the victims, both locally and internationally.
