Amanda Pulver : “Warren County Shooting Suspect Hit with More Charges”

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Morris County man, Anthony J. Garvin, 34, of Netcong Borough, who was previously charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Amanda Pulver in June, is now facing additional charges, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Garvin now stands accused of third-degree Animal Cruelty for purposely causing the death of an animal, specifically by shooting a dog. In addition, he faces two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault for pointing a firearm at two victims, third-degree criminal mischief for purposely causing damage to property (specifically the home), second-degree burglary, and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon for possessing a handgun without a permit.

The incident took place on June 27 on Alphano Road in Independence Township near the Allamuchy Township border. Police were alerted to a shooting and later identified Garvin as the suspect. The authorities have described the incident as a targeted act.

Garvin was apprehended in Pennsylvania around 11:30 a.m. on the same day. The victim, Amanda Pulver, was known to Garvin prior to the tragic incident, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, Independence Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Wyomissing Police Township (PA), and New Jersey State Police. Various units such as the Warren County Tactical Team and New Jersey State Police assets provided support during the investigation.

As the investigation continues, the prosecutor’s office has mentioned that additional charges may be filed as more information is gathered.
