Alec Baldwin : “Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Testify Tomorrow: Day 2 Update”

By | July 11, 2024

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Alec Baldwin has made headlines once again as he abruptly left the courtroom during a hearing where the special prosecutor was arguing a motion in front of the judge. Baldwin’s attorney, Spiro, requested to approach the bench, leading to both sides conferring with Judge Sommer.

During the hearing, Judge Sommer stood by her ruling not to allow Baldwin’s producer status on the set of “Rust” to be brought into trial. The special prosecutor, Morrissey, argued that Baldwin’s producer status allowed him to disregard safety rules on set, but Judge Sommer denied admitting the transcript related to a safety bulletin as evidence, which was seen as a win for Baldwin’s defense team.

However, the judge did approve a small portion of a transcript that showed Baldwin’s statements regarding the danger of guns, stating that “blanks can kill.” This was seen as a second win for the prosecution in the motion hearing. Throughout the proceedings, Baldwin remained stoic, with his head down and at one point, offering a slight shake of his head.

Judge Sommer also approved the prosecution’s motion to include as evidence a phone call between Baldwin, his wife, and others at the police station following the shooting. The special prosecutor argued that the call contradicted the defense’s characterization of Baldwin’s state of mind, as he was heard telling his family to still come to New Mexico and that they’d “have fun.” Baldwin’s defense team fought the motion, claiming the state was trying to make Baldwin appear callous.

Before the lunch break, Baldwin’s defense team questioned a crime scene technician about live bullets being mixed in with dummy rounds on the “Rust” set. The defense attempted to show that it could be difficult for the untrained eye to differentiate between live rounds and dummy bullets. The defense also asserted that there was “zero evidence” that Baldwin loaded the gun with live ammunition.

As the court reconvened from the lunch break, Baldwin’s defense team entered into evidence a document detailing the scene the actor was supposed to film, which included instructions that the thumb “cocks” the firearm. This was seen as an attempt to bolster the defense’s case that Baldwin simply did as he was instructed to do as an actor.

The courtroom was filled with discussions between the prosecution, defense, and Judge Sommer after the break, with the state objecting to the defense’s line of questioning about the search of the on-set church where the shooting occurred. Live rounds were found among dummy bullets on the “Rust” set, and Baldwin’s defense team attempted to show that the live bullets could have been easily commingled with the dummy rounds.

The second day of the trial began with Baldwin in court alongside his family, including his wife, Hilaria, and his brother Stephen. The prosecution plans to call “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed to the stand on Friday, according to a source familiar with the matter.

As the trial continues, the courtroom remains tense as both the prosecution and defense present their cases in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Alec Baldwin..
