Authorities in Lincoln, Nebraska have arrested a 28-year-old man, identified as Zachary Douglas, on a number of charges after troopers discovered a sawed-off shotgun inside a stolen vehicle. Douglas now faces six counts related to theft, drug possession, and firearms violations.
The incident began when a red Chevrolet Impala was observed making an improper turn near Superior Street and Cornhusker Highway. A Nebraska State Patrol trooper attempted to pull over the vehicle at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, but the Impala fled the scene.
The pursuit ensued as the Impala sped west on Cornhusker Highway, reaching speeds of approximately 90 miles per hour. The vehicle ran a stoplight at North 48th Street before the trooper lost sight of it near 20th Street. Shortly after, the Milford Police Department confirmed that the Impala had been reported stolen.
The following day, troopers located the red Impala parked at a residence near North 16th and Knox streets. Upon approaching the vehicle, they discovered a 12-inch sawed-off double barrel shotgun placed on the driver’s seat. As authorities closed in on the property, a man fled from the back door and was apprehended after a brief pursuit.

Zachary Douglas, the individual arrested, was found in possession of 31 grams of methamphetamine and seven alprazolam pills. The methamphetamine was packaged for distribution, as per court records. Additionally, a scale and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle, along with a single shell loaded in the shotgun’s left barrel.
An arrest affidavit revealed that Douglas, a convicted felon, is prohibited from owning a firearm. He was arraigned on the six charges on Monday and his bond was set at 10% of $500,000. Douglas is scheduled to appear in court on August 13.
