Samson Fussner : “Yellowstone Park shooter Lucas Fussner from Milton Florida”

A man from Milton has been identified as the suspect who was killed in an exchange of gunfire at Yellowstone National Park, according to confirmation from the Park County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident, which took place last week, resulted in one park ranger being injured. The shooting occurred overnight on the Fourth of July, with the ranger reported to be in stable condition following the confrontation.

Authorities received a report of a person with a firearm, later identified as 28-year-old Samson Lucas Bariah Fussner, making threats in the Canyon Village area of the park. Park rangers engaged with the individual, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Fussner, a resident of Milton, succumbed to his injuries after an armed altercation with park rangers, as confirmed by the Park County Sheriff’s Office in a social media post.

Park County coroner Cody Gortmaker stated that Fussner’s cause of death was due to gunshot wounds.

Court records indicate that Fussner is related to Gideon Fussner, a Pensacola man who was acquitted of charges related to a double murder case in 2018.

Gideon Fussner claimed self-defense in the 2017 incident where he shot and killed two individuals and wounded another. Jurors ultimately found him not guilty.

Local reports suggest that Samson Lucas Bariah Fussner was a contractor working at Yellowstone through the Xanterra Travel Collection. His contract was set to expire in September, as indicated by his employee ID on social media.

The National Park Service, FBI, and local authorities are conducting an investigation into the shooting. While the NPS has not provided additional details, the FBI and local police have yet to respond to inquiries.
