BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — A sergeant at the Lewis State Prison complex in Buckeye has been taken into custody for allegedly committing acts of sexual assault against a female employee under his supervision.
Ramon Godoy, a 33-year-old individual, is currently facing multiple charges, including sexual assault, aggravated assault involving impeded breathing, and kidnapping.
The investigation into Godoy’s actions was initiated by Buckeye police on July 7 following a report from a woman who claimed that her supervisor at the prison complex had forced himself on her while they were both on duty.
The victim reported to the authorities that Godoy had strangled her, forcibly pushed her against a wall, and proceeded to sexually assault her. Despite her vocal objections and pleas for him to stop, he continued his actions, causing her difficulty in breathing during the ordeal.
Following the alleged assault, the victim decided to leave her shift prematurely. She reached out to a friend for assistance in reporting the incident to the police.
On July 9, Godoy contacted the victim and implored her not to report him, expressing his fear of losing his job due to his foolish actions. Despite her refusal and assertion of lack of consent, he repeatedly apologised during the phone conversation.
Godoy was apprehended by law enforcement while on duty at the prison. In his statement to the police, he admitted to holding the victim’s neck for a duration of 10 seconds, pushing her against a wall, and engaging in the sexual assault. He acknowledged his culpability in the incident and his position of authority over the woman.
The victim underwent a sexual assault examination, revealing injuries to her torso and neck indicative of the assault.
Both parties confirmed to the police that this encounter marked their initial in-person interaction. Additionally, Godoy has been linked to previous complaints of sexually assaulting another subordinate and making inappropriate sexual remarks to a different individual.
Godoy was taken into custody and is currently facing five charges in connection to this incident at the Maricopa County Jail.
