East Bridgewater Police Department has taken swift action in the case of a shooting that took place on the evening of July 4. A 17-year-old juvenile from East Bridgewater has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Charges Against the Juvenile

The 17-year-old male has been charged with several serious offences, including:

  • Armed Assault with Intent to Murder

  • Assault and Battery with a Firearm
  • Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm without License
  • Possession of a Firearm without License
  • Possession of Ammunition without License

The incident took place on Robins Street in the Pompohono Pines condominium complex, where the victim, also a 17-year-old male, was shot while riding a motorized scooter with a passenger.

Details of the Incident

On the evening of July 4, a 911 call was made to report the shooting on Robins Street. The victim was shot by the driver of a passing vehicle while riding the scooter with another passenger. The victim was shot in the stomach and was brought into a nearby home by a good Samaritan while awaiting emergency services.

Upon arrival, the police found the victim in the good Samaritan’s home, where they provided immediate medical assistance before transporting him to a local hospital for further treatment.

Arrest and Investigation

Following a thorough investigation, the juvenile was identified as the suspect in the shooting. It was revealed that the victim and the suspect are acquainted with each other. The police, along with the WEB Major Crimes Taskforce and SEMLEC Swat team, arrested the juvenile without incident at his home on July 10 after obtaining an arrest warrant.

The juvenile was arraigned at the Brockton District Court on Wednesday, where the charges were formally presented.

It is important to note that these are allegations and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
