Accident – Death – Obituary News : As a series of disturbing videos depicting atrocities inside a club in the Kamarhati-Ariadaha area of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district continue to surface, the police have taken action against TMC strongman Jayant Singh and his associates. Three cases have been filed against Singh, who is known to have close ties with Kamarhati MLA Madan Mitra, and seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the incidents.

The escalation of events began in March 2021 when mobile phones were reported stolen from the residence of Rahul Gupta in ward no.8 of Ariadaha. Despite no formal police complaint being lodged, a mob took matters into their own hands and brutally assaulted a man suspected of theft at the Ariadaha Taltala Sporting Club.

Commissioner of Police, Barrackpore, Alok Rajoria, revealed that the police became aware of a widely circulated video on social media showing several individuals mercilessly beating a man. “The Barrackpore police have initiated a suo motu case against eight named individuals and others who remain unidentified. Six arrests have been made in connection to this case, with three of the suspects already facing charges from a previous incident on July 1,” Rajoria stated during a press conference.

Among the arrested individuals are Saikat Manna, Sudip Manna, and Jayant Singh, who will be held for further questioning. Additionally, Abhishek Barman, Subhas Bera, and Suman De were identified from the video and have also been booked in connection with the incident at the club.

In one of the videos, associates of Jayant Singh are seen restraining a person while others viciously beat them with sticks. The brutality captured in the footage is horrifying, with one assailant commanding the victim to be struck on the back as they scream in agony.

Another video from 2015 led to the arrest of a man named Tanmoy Dhar alias Bappa, emphasizing the police’s commitment to pursuing legal action regardless of the footage’s age. Jayant Singh, a notorious figure with a history of criminal allegations, has been implicated in multiple cases, including murder, attempted murder, and causing grievous harm.

The investigations are ongoing, with the police urging caution against spreading unverified information. The authorities have registered cases under various sections of the law, including wrongful restraint, causing hurt, causing grievous hurt, and acts done by multiple individuals in furtherance of a common intention.

While Jayant Singh’s involvement in the recent incidents is being scrutinized, the police have assured that appropriate action will be taken if his participation is confirmed. The community is urged to cooperate with the authorities in bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing such heinous acts from recurring..
