A suspect accused of fatally shooting a man outside of a Russ’s Market in Lincoln on July 5 is facing a hefty bond of $5 million. The Lancaster County Jail roster lists the suspect as 20-year-old Ge’Auvieon Crayton, with a bond set at 10% of the total amount. In order to be released from jail ahead of a potential trial, Crayton would need to pay $500,000.

As of now, Crayton has not been formally charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 25-year-old Francisco Javier Alvis. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon to address the charges against him.

The incident occurred when Crayton was arrested on Saturday, accused of fatally shooting Alvis outside Russ’s Market near South Coddington Avenue and West A Street.

Police were alerted to the area on Friday at 10 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots and vehicles fleeing the scene. Alvis, a 25-year-old Lincoln man, was found nearby with gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) interviewed witnesses and reviewed security footage from the scene.

LPD Captain Ben Miller stated that security footage revealed Alvis meeting Crayton in the Russ’s Market parking lot, where the two were seen inside the victim’s pickup truck before Alvis fled from the vehicle. Witnesses reported that the victim had met Crayton to deliver marijuana.

Alvis ran to a maroon Jeep and clung to the driver’s door as it drove away. The duration of Alvis’s hold on the Jeep remains unclear, but witnesses located him over a mile away near the intersection of West A and South Folsom.

Upon discovery, Alvis was found with a fully loaded 9mm handgun with the safety engaged and no live rounds in the chamber, according to LPD.

At the time of the shooting, Crayton exited Alvis’ vehicle and departed in a silver Jeep, the same vehicle he arrived in, LPD revealed.

Crime scene investigators identified a bullet hole in the driver’s door of Alvis’ truck and determined that a firearm was discharged from inside the vehicle towards the driver’s seat.

Investigators recovered a spent 9mm handgun casing on the pavement outside the vehicle, along with a single slug consistent with a .40 caliber handgun.

Further investigation unveiled a single bullet hole on the driver’s door of the maroon Jeep.

Following the suspect’s identification, Crayton was apprehended near the intersection of North 27th Street and Holdrege on Saturday and placed in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and firearm use in the commission of a felony.

A search warrant executed at Crayton’s residence yielded live rounds matching those found at the scene and a handgun magazine, LPD disclosed.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact LPD’s non-emergency line at 402-441-6000. Alternatively, individuals can provide anonymous tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
