A 22-year-old man from Santa Rosa has been identified as the victim in a tragic head-on collision that occurred on Sunday in Marin County.

Emanuel Jimenez Romero was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m. on Sunday, as confirmed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal collision took place around 2:10 p.m. in the 16000 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Inverness.

Reports from the Sheriff’s Office indicate that Jimenez was travelling eastbound at a high speed on a 2007 Yamaha YZF R6 motorcycle.

He attempted to overtake slower traffic by crossing over the double-yellow striped lane divider, resulting in a collision with a 2014 Honda Odyssey travelling in the opposite direction.

Following the impact, Jimenez was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered severe traumatic injuries. He was found lying unconscious and unresponsive on the road.

Bystanders at the scene administered first aid until paramedics arrived to assist Jimenez, who had gone into cardiopulmonary arrest.

The exact cause of his death is currently under investigation by authorities.
