An El Paso County man, Donald Dutton from Palmer Lake, was involved in a serious motorcycle crash in northern Colorado over the weekend. The incident occurred in Mead, Weld County, where Dutton and another rider were riding a Harley Davidson on July 6.

The motorcycle collided with an SUV as the riders attempted to pass the vehicle, which had slowed down to make a turn. Unfortunately, the motorcycle clipped the back tire of the SUV, causing both riders to be thrown from the bike.

According to the Mead Police Department, Dutton, aged 50, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Aurora for further treatment. His passenger, identified as 58-year-old Debbi Kempf from Denver, also suffered severe injuries and is currently hospitalized.

It is worth noting that neither of the motorcycle occupants were wearing protective gear at the time of the accident. In contrast, the teenage driver of the SUV emerged from the incident unscathed.

The Mead Police Department has launched an investigation into the crash. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident. Mead, a town located in Weld County, is situated to the northeast of Longmont.
