Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a tragic incident in Maharashtra, a 31-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a speeding car in Nashik city. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, involved a 51-year-old car driver who was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police.

The accused, identified as Devchand Rambhau Tidme, hails from Dhruv Nagar and was employed at a company in Satpur MIDC area, according to officials from the Gangapur police station.

The victim, Archana Kishore Shinde, a resident of Hanuman Nagar, was walking home after work when the car hit her from behind on Bardan Phata-Shivaji Nagar Road near Gangapur Road. The impact caused Shinde to sustain a severe head injury, leading to her tragic demise at a nearby hospital.

Prior to the collision, two individuals travelling in the opposite direction attempted to warn the driver of the approaching danger. Despite their efforts, the driver failed to reduce speed and collided with Shinde before fleeing the scene. The entire incident was captured by CCTV cameras in the area, and a vigilant bystander managed to record the car’s registration number.

Upon investigation, the police located the driver at his residence and took him into custody. Reports indicated that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident, contributing to the loss of control that resulted in Shinde’s death. The driver neglected to assist the victim and chose to return home instead.

The Gangapur police have filed charges against the driver under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder and reckless driving, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The case remains under investigation.

This incident adds to a series of recent hit-and-run tragedies in Maharashtra, including a fatal BMW collision in Mumbai and a fatal accident involving a police officer in Pune. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and the devastating consequences of reckless behaviour on the road.

As authorities continue to investigate and address road safety concerns, it is crucial for motorists to exercise caution and responsibility while driving to prevent further loss of life in preventable accidents.
