The incident, which took place at the Sportco store on July 7, unfolded when two suspects attempted to shoplift from the store. Security personnel at Sportco intervened, leading to a dangerous altercation that resulted in gunfire being exchanged.

During the confrontation, one security guard sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm. Swift action by officers at the scene ensured the injured guard received immediate first aid before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Court documents reveal that the first guard managed to apprehend one of the suspects as they tried to leave the store with unpaid goods. However, the situation took a sinister turn when the second suspect, identified as Dayvion Joseph George, allegedly produced a firearm and fired at the guard in a chilling “execution-style” attack. Miraculously, the guard survived the ordeal.

In response to the threat, the second guard retaliated by returning fire at the suspect, prompting the assailant to flee the scene.

Subsequently, Milton Police located George near City Hall at 5411 23rd Street East. Upon his arrest, George was visibly distressed, out of breath, and shoeless. A search of the area led to the discovery of incriminating evidence, including stolen ammunition, magazines for Glock and Beretta pistols, and clothing items linked to the crime.

Despite George’s apprehension, the second suspect involved in the incident remains at large, prompting a plea from the Fife Police Department for any information that could assist in their apprehension.

On Monday, July 8, George appeared in the Pierce County Superior Court to face charges of attempted murder, two counts of assault, and robbery in connection with the violent episode at Sportco.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging the public to come forward with any relevant information that could aid in identifying and locating the outstanding suspect.
