CLAY CITY, Ky. — The Clay City Fire Department in Kentucky has taken action against one of its members following a controversial incident that gained significant attention on social media.

A photo depicting a volunteer firefighter sitting on the outside of a moving vehicle has gone viral after being shared on a community group page on Facebook. According to the user who posted the photo, the vehicle was traveling on KY 82 in Irvine, and the firefighter was seen sitting outside the vehicle on the passenger door for approximately two miles. The individual in question was described as a male aged between 20-30 years old.

The firefighter, who was wearing a Clay City Fire Department shirt in the photo, has not been publicly identified by either the Facebook post or the fire department itself.

Following the circulation of the photo, the Clay City Fire Department issued a statement on Monday confirming that they are aware of the situation and have identified the individual in question. As a result, the firefighter has been placed on administrative leave while a board of directors conducts a thorough review of the incident.

The fire department has also informed law enforcement authorities about the incident.

In a post on Facebook, the Clay City Fire Department expressed their disapproval of the behavior displayed by one of their members, stating, “We do not condone this kind of behavior from any of our members. We appreciate the community for bringing this incident to our attention.”
