In a heartbreaking turn of events, a pedestrian lost her life in a tragic accident in Gaffney, South Carolina. The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that 21-year-old Carson Melinda Wofford was struck and killed by a Ford pickup truck late Tuesday night on 1125 North Logan Street.
The incident occurred around 11:23 p.m. when Wofford was lying near the center line of the road. Reports suggest that moments before the fatal collision, Wofford had jumped onto the hood of a car that had stopped to avoid hitting her as she stood in the roadway.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the tragic sequence of events, showing Wofford sliding off the car’s hood and onto the road just before being hit by the oncoming truck. Despite immediate medical attention, Wofford tragically passed away at the scene.
