INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police apprehend suspect in violent crime incident

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers successfully arrested a man on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a shooting and attempted robbery in the city.

Incident Details

On Tuesday evening, around 7 p.m., IMPD officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of East 21st Street in response to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim sought help from a deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, who provided immediate medical assistance before calling for backup.

The victim recounted that he had been shot during an attempted robbery in a neighbourhood near North Ritter Avenue and East 22nd Street. The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Brendan Bodie, known to officers from previous interactions in the area.

Police Response

With information about Bodie’s whereabouts, IMPD officers swiftly made their way to his residence to locate him and investigate the crime scene. Upon reaching the property, they encountered a man resembling Bodie attempting to leave. Despite officers’ commands to stop, the man re-entered the residence.

IMPD officers secured the perimeter and called for the assistance of the SWAT team and detectives. A search warrant was obtained for the property, and after several hours of negotiation attempts, SWAT officers entered the house and found Bodie hiding in the attic. He was arrested without resistance.

Charges and Arrest

Brendan Bodie was taken into custody and is facing preliminary charges of battery with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. The IMPD is continuing its investigation into the incident.
