Three months ago, the body of 53-year-old Fasil Teklemariam was found in Washington DC with stab wounds, and his alleged killer, 19-year-old Audrey Miller, was on the run.

Fasil Teklemariam, a resident of Northwest DC, was discovered dead in April. The case remained unsolved until last month when the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia announced Miller’s arrest.

On June 17, Audrey Miller was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed. The police department released a statement saying, “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce a suspect wanted in a fatal stabbing in Northwest has been apprehended.”

The incident took place on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:21 p.m. when officers responded to a call about an unconscious person in an apartment on the 1300 block of Peabody Street, Northwest.

Fasil Teklemariam was found inside the residence with stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was identified as 53-year-old Fasil Teklemariam.

On Monday, June 17, 2024, Audrey Miller was located and arrested in Hagerstown, MD. She was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed-Felony Murder and will be extradited to Washington, DC.

Following an investigation into Teklemariam’s death, it was discovered that he was missing a right thumb. The autopsy revealed blunt force injuries to his head and torso, cuts on his legs and hands, and the shocking detail that his right thumb had been severed.

The autopsy suggested that the thumb was removed while Teklemariam was near death or shortly after, and his body was not found until two to five days later.

Reports indicate that a witness claimed Tiffany Taylor Gray, a 22-year-old woman who was also arrested and charged, was in a relationship with Teklemariam. Another witness alleged that Gray used the severed thumb to access his bank account and withdraw money.

Tiffany Taylor Gray is currently undergoing the extradition process to return to Washington, DC to face charges. It is unclear at this time if any additional individuals will be charged in connection with the case.

UNILAD has reached out to both the Washington D.C. District Attorney’s Office and the Washington Metropolitan Police for comments on the ongoing investigation.
