A 42-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting outside a fast-food restaurant in Nanaimo three years ago. The incident, which took place at the Rock City Centre, was believed to be linked to the escalating gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.
The victim, identified as Yasin Khan, was found in a vehicle parked outside a Wendy’s at 3:30 p.m. on May 20, 2021. Following the shooting, several individuals were arrested at a Best Western hotel and a vehicle was seized on the same day.

After a lengthy investigation, Nanaimo RCMP confirmed that Ronald Joseph Campbell, aged 42, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Khan’s death. Insp.
