A devastating incident unfolded at the Metra train station in Waukegan on Sunday, resulting in the loss of 36-year-old Xzavier Booker’s life. Booker, a resident of Zion and a father, was fatally shot in the station’s parking lot in the early hours of the morning.

An autopsy conducted on Monday by Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek revealed that Booker succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement authorities from the Waukegan Police Department were summoned to the scene at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday following reports of a shooting at the Metra station located at 95 North Spring Street.

Upon arrival, police officers discovered Booker, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot, as per information obtained from fire department radio transmissions.

The victim, later identified as Xzavier Booker, had endured gunshot wounds to his chest and neck, with the severity of his injuries proving fatal.

Emergency medical services were promptly requested, with paramedics arriving at the scene to confirm Booker’s tragic demise due to the injuries sustained.

Jynniah Harris, Booker’s sister-in-law, expressed profound grief over the loss, highlighting his role as an exceptional father to his children and his passion for music.

Harris fondly recalled Booker’s love for playing the piano with his daughter, composing songs for his partner, and his enthusiasm for high-speed biking adventures with his fellow riders.

“Every Sunday, he could be found gliding effortlessly across the skating rink, immersed in the rhythm of the music. Xzavier was a humble and kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of many,” Harris shared.

She went on to lament the senseless loss of Booker’s life, emphasizing the impact of his absence on his grieving family.

Despite ongoing investigations, the Waukegan Police Department has refrained from disclosing specific details related to the case, leaving the community and loved ones of Xzavier Booker awaiting further updates.
