FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. – Fayetteville Police were called to the scene of a tragic incident involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near Stonewall Avenue West and Heritage Park Way on the evening of July 4. The pedestrian, identified as 35-year-old William Grigsby from Augusta, was rushed to Piedmont Fayette Hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Grigsby tragically passed away on July 6.

Initial investigations suggest that Grigsby was walking east in the center eastbound lane of Stonewall Avenue when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement and Accident Reconstruction Unit is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided to the public. Officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
