TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) – A tragic incident unfolded at the Pusch Ridge Golf Course in Oro Valley, Arizona, where Rick Messina, a dedicated member of the grounds crew, lost his life following a sudden bee attack while on duty on June 24.

Reports indicate that Messina was diligently working on the eighth hole when he was unexpectedly swarmed by bees. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to the hospital, Messina sadly passed away three days later, leaving his colleagues and community in mourning.

In a heartfelt message to El Conquistador Golf members, representatives expressed their deep sorrow over Messina’s untimely demise, highlighting his exceptional work ethic, positive demeanor, and unwavering dedication to his responsibilities. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Following the tragic incident, the golf course took proactive measures by enlisting professional beekeepers to inspect all 45 holes for any signs of bee activity. Fortunately, no further threats were identified, reassuring the safety of the premises.
