On Tuesday, Mumbai Police apprehended 24-year-old Mihir Shah, who had been on the run in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a BMW that claimed the life of a 45-year-old woman.
The Police had deployed six teams and issued a lookout notice to locate and arrest Shah, who had been evading authorities.
According to Worli Police, Rajesh Shah, Mihir’s father, had made multiple calls to his son following the tragic accident. It was revealed that prior to the incident, Mihir had been socializing at a pub in Juhu with friends. Statements from three of his companions have been recorded by the authorities.
The Mumbai Police had mobilized 14 teams in their efforts to apprehend Shah, who had disappeared after the fatal collision with a scooter on Dr Annie Besant Road in Worli.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed concern over the increase in hit-and-run incidents in the state. He vowed to crack down on powerful individuals who seek to abuse their influence and manipulate the legal system for personal gain.
Shinde stated, “No one, regardless of wealth, influence, or political affiliations, will escape justice under my administration. I have a zero-tolerance policy towards injustice.”
Following the July 7 tragedy, Mihir’s father, Rajesh Shah, and another individual, Raj Rishi Rajendra Singh Vidawat, were arrested for failing to cooperate with the police investigation.
The victim of the hit-and-run, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, was a resident of Worli Koliwada. She was a passenger on the scooter driven by her husband, who sustained injuries and is receiving medical treatment.
The incident occurred early in the morning when a BMW collided with the couple’s motorcycle near Atria Mall in Worli. The driver of the luxury vehicle fled the scene following the collision.
Authorities disclosed that the BMW was registered to a prominent political figure from Palghar in Maharashtra.
The tragic event in Worli comes on the heels of a similar incident in Pune, where a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old allegedly under the influence caused the deaths of two individuals in Kalyani Nagar.
