LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities in Kentucky are currently conducting an investigation following a tragic incident where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Nelson County on Monday night.

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to the scene of the fatal collision at approximately 10:45 p.m. The incident occurred near the 4000 block of Louisville Road (US 150) just north of Bardstown, as stated in a press release issued by the KSP.

Initial reports indicate that a 2014 KIA Forte was travelling in a northbound direction on Louisville Road when it collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as 23-year-old Matt Berry from Bardstown, was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the KIA Forte reportedly did not see the pedestrian walking in the northbound lane, leading to the tragic collision. The KSP Post 4 was assisted by the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office, Nelson Co. EMS, and the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office at the scene of the incident.
