Orange County prosecutors have officially filed murder charges against a man from Huntington Beach, accused of a violent stabbing incident that took place on the Fourth of July. The suspect, identified as Logan Christopher Kelley, 26, faces two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, one count of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and one count of battery on police or emergency personnel.
The tragic incident occurred near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue at around 11:15 p.m. on July 4th. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered multiple victims at a residential complex. While three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital, two victims tragically lost their lives on-site.
The deceased victims have been identified as William Thomas Collins, aged 47, and Eric Clayton Hodges, aged 42, both residents of Huntington Beach. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
As investigations into the case continue, authorities have refrained from disclosing further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the incident. If convicted, Kelley could face severe sentencing enhancements, including the personal use of a deadly weapon, attempted premeditated murder, and special circumstances due to multiple murder convictions in the first or second degree.
