Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident occurred on Monday in Marion, Ohio, where a Bellville woman lost her life after being hit by a vehicle while walking on a sidewalk. The victim, identified as 72-year-old Linda Showalter, was accompanied by a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old at the time of the accident. The 2-year-old sustained minor injuries, while the other child and the driver of the vehicle were unharmed.

The accident took place at 11:30 a.m. on Center Street near Chicago Avenue in Marion. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Ford Escape driven by 85-year-old Sandra Brown of Marion struck Showalter as she was walking on the sidewalk. Subsequently, Showalter and the Escape were hit by a Kenworth T480 truck driven by 53-year-old James McGinnis, who was travelling east on Center Street.

Tragically, Showalter succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. Brown and her passenger, 79-year-old Diane Wilcox, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Marion General Hospital for treatment. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was supported by Marion City Department of Fire and EMS, Marion Police Department, and Kirby’s Towing at the scene of the crash.

The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
